A 5-day celebration of creativity, high craft and design in Lisbon

Lisbon Design Week brings together the Portuguese design and high craft world in an annual, global event.

Our objective is to promote the expertise and creativity of Lisbon's designers and craftsmen to invigorate the sector.

For the second edition of Lisbon Design Week taking place 22-26 May 2024, we invite you to rediscover the city of Lisbon through the lens of its design and savoir faire.

Artisans, designers, showrooms, boutiques, galleries, workshops, restaurants, hotels, museums and other institutions will open their door for a program of exclusive exhibitions, installations and talks highlighting Portuguese craftsmanship and innovation.

The founders

Michèle Fajtmann (right, b. Belgium) is the founder of From My City, a company formed in the UK in 2010 that creates unique events centred around artistic themes and the city. She has developed a particular expertise in creative placemaking projects. She is particularly interested in the importance of public spaces at the heart of urban communities as well as the use of art & culture for networking purpose. She is a member of the World Organization of the Periodical Press and a guest contributor of several cultural blogs. For her most recent book on contemporary culture, she has conducted in depth interviews with ten internationally acclaimed artists. She also recently published her first short story. Michèle has lived in Brussels, New York, Warsaw, London and Lisbon. She previously worked as a corporate lawyer for 15 years.

Julie de Halleux (left, b. Belgium) is the founder of Lisbon by Design fair. She was immersed from her childhood in the art and craftsmanship world. After a career in the tax and corporate finance of an international firm, she decided to focus on real estate projects.
While investing in real estate property, she developed a practice of home interior advice, both for her own and for clients’ projects. Some of her realisations were published in various decoration and lifestyle magazines. She moved to Lisbon in 2013 and started to explore the wealth of talented artists and artisans in Portugal and rapidly came to the conclusion that they deserved to be better promoted. That led her to launch the Lisbon by Design fair, an intimate high craft and design fair, which first and second edition in 2021 and 2022 were a great success. Julie strives to develop this fair and launch new initiatives around Portuguese artists and artisans.
