LDW24 Guide to: 100% PORTUGUESE FURNITURE

Get to know the furniture brands and designers that are 100% Portuguese and presenting at Lisbon Design Week 2024.

DE LA ESPADA

TONI GRILO

These brands unite traditional Portuguese craftsmanship with contemporary design. Our main sponsor, De La Espada, is one of the best representatives of this category. Their solar-powered atelier near Porto specialises in solid wood craft and upholstery. They will show a new art & Craft cabinet system at OJO gallery. Among the key designers from Porto, we are lucky to welcome again Toni Grilo whose outdoor installation last year has been one of the highlights of our first edition. For this 2d edition, Toni Grilo is presenting a solo show with a series of new pieces shown for the first time at the exhibition space Coletivo 284

BRANCA

WEWOOD

In this group, we also include Branca, the brand created by renowned Portuguese designer Marco Sousa Santos. This year, Marco will present in his beautiful showroom in Saldanha, some new series as well as a new table by architect Manuel Aires Mateus. One of the highlights in our program this year is the new showroom of Wewood, a Portuguese brand founded in 2012, by the second generation of owners of a traditional solid wood factory . An exciting time for the owners who open their second flagship shop in Lisbon after the one in Porto. For this “Lisbon Store Preview” they will exhibit recently launched products as well as some icons from their collection from designers like Gonçalo Campos and Christian Haas both based in Portugal.

PORVENTURA

UTIL

MOR DESIGN

FUSCHINI

STUDIO SILVA

We then have younger brands such as Porventura who has a beautiful showroom near Alcantara, UTIL which has opened a brand new showroom near their atelier in the same area, Mor Design that will show their new pieces at Paris Sete, Fuschini at Archivo Aires Mateus, and Studio Silva from Porto at Bahu Design in Campo d’Ourique. They are all very strong younger brands with recognizable signature pieces.

SANTO INFANTE

ATELIER DACIANO DA COSTA

FERNANDO TAVORA

Finally, let’s mention three additional venues: Santo Infante, an interior design studio and store dedicated only to Portuguese brands and in the same area Atelier Daciano Da Costa, a showroom that celebrates one of the most important figures in Portuguese Design who died in 2005. Now one of his daughters, Ines Cottinelli is reissuing some of his classic pieces that can be found in this beautiful studio. Finally, the stunning tea shop Companhia Portugueza do Chá housed in an old shoe store from 1880, is hosting Fernando Távora furniture reedited by João Martins.

CONSERVEIRA DE LISBOA

One last thing to mention here is the opportunity to meet the Portuguese designers who have been working in creating the new shop from the iconic brand Conserveira de Lisboa in Bairro Alto (Filipe Alarcão for the shop and João Xara for the new basket to be launched during our event)
