Anna Westerlund has always felt the urge to draw, paint and create using her hands. However, it wasn’t until later on in life that she realised her professional path would involve pursuing a career in the arts. Born to a Swedish father and a Portuguese mother, she grew up ‘between’ two countries and travelling has always played a huge role in her life. During her career as a model, she visited and lived in a number of countries, embracing every opportunity to wander around looking for museums and art galleries, thus quenching her ‘thirst’ for creativity. When she realised this was a driving force in her life, she decided to put her studies in Marketing and Advertising on hold and to enrol in the ceramics course at AR.CO, which became her passion. The same year, she was invited to represent Portugal in the International Ceramics Biennale in Denmark, fully devoting herself to her work as a ceramist.
Anna Westelund’s ceramic pieces have been exhibited at the MOMA shop in New York and the ‘Portugal Convida’ visual arts exhibit in Barcelona. She has also created an exclusive collection for Anthropologie.
During LDW, her shop, Together, located in Chiado will be transformed into a gallery where she has conceived an interactive exhibition "Brin.ca.dei.ra" expoloring the act of playing, entertaining and distracting.
