Manuel Aires Mateus
Manuel Aires Mateus is an internationally acclaimed Portuguese architect. Central to his design philosophy is the exploration of volumes, the creation of visual interplay among different shapes, and meticulous consideration of voids and empty spaces. Notable achievements include representing Portugal at the Venice Biennale in 2010, numerous awards and various exhibitions. Manuel is also an esteemed educator, sharing his expertise at several international universities in Europe and the USA.
Arquivo Aires Mateus is a space that is devoted to exhibitions and special events.
Lisbon Design Week is presenting the exhibition “Nossa Terra” curated by Sam Baron.
This exhibition brings together a selection of artefacts produced in terracotta in Portugal. Traditionally, and still today, terracotta comes directly from the ground on which we stand. It is therefore a material that defines a territory and, as a result, the skills and techniques associated with this type of production. Terracotta is also an indicator of culture, since its production bears witness to the habits and needs of the regions where it is transformed into everyday objects, artistic pieces, architectral elements...
This ancestral type of ceramic is also very much actual, as it has true eco-responsible characteristics thanks to its local provenance (transport distances are short), low-temperature firing (low energy consumption) and recyclability (all waste is re-injected into the production process).

Fuschini
It was by the hands of the architects Vasco de Lima Mayer and Sara Oom de Sousa that the brand fuschini was built. Seeking to project to reality the dream of building houses that were works of art from one wall to the other, the two friends and colleagues joined forces to create a 100% portuguese furniture brand, where its design could be recognized by simple lines, irresistible comfort, timeless beauty and unbeatable quality.
Currently a reference brand in the portuguese furniture industry, Fuschini maintains its mission focused on creating author design pieces that bring its customers the comfort of feeling in a house of their own, every time they arrive home. Fuschini will present a table designed by Manuel Aires Mateus and other pieces.
