Under the direction of Emília Ferreira, the MNAC has maintained the policy of retrospective and monographic exhibitions on Portuguese 19th century and modernist artists, fostering partnerships with national and international museums.
The collection continues to be updated, mainly through donations and bequests from artists and collectors.
Simultaneously, the Museum presents a program of exhibitions by contemporary artists, projects specifically created for the MNAC, a pedagogical program of courses, lectures, workshops and seminars.
The Museum is collaborating with the organization Portugal Faz Bem created by interior designer and entrepreneur Joana Beirão. Portugal Faz Bem is a portal promoting Portuguese Brands through a mapping Directory, and a set of Industrial Tourism Events and Experiences promoted throughout the year.
The Museum's shop includes design objects from prestigious national design and production brands and offers the Portugal Faz Bem Meetings, dedicated to promoting the founders and stories of each brand invited to the store. The bookstore, with MNAC editions and other art publications is also located in this beautifully renovated space. The Shop / Bookstore is open to the public during the Museum's opening times and is accessible through the Museum's two entrances: Rua Serpa Pinto, 4 and Capelo Street, 13.
