Nature and landscape are her main source of inspiration

Since 1983, Beatriz  works on design projects in the areas of publishing, posters, packaging, illustration, corporate identity, merchandising, products and exhibitions, mainly in the field of cultural activities for museums, monuments and other institutions.

In her practice as an artist, she has been interested in exploring different ways of representation and perception, merging different concepts with her memories and day-to-day experiences, and working in the two- and three-dimensional fields through mediums as drawing, sculpture and installation. Nature and landscape are subjects she has dedicated herself to, using them to question and address issues like the ephemeral, the void, the silence, transformation, memory...

Books, writing and the word itself, are also important fields of work, not only for their meaning, but also for their form as matter and object.

Her work has been regularly exhibited in museums and galleries since 1988 and is represented in Museu Nacional do Azulejo, Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea-Museu do Chiado, MUDAS– Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Madeira, Museu do Oriente, Gulbenkian Biblioteca de Arte and also in private collections.

For Lisbon Design Week, Beatriz will present, at Galeria Tapeçarias de Portalegre her new series Still Life.

Still Life is a series of assemblages, constructions that perpetuate the white of silence. The matter weightlessly carries the lost existence of fragments, recreating new constructions of dialogues between form and content.

There is an order established in moments where the action has stopped.

A celebration of the moment when everything stops, a time between the fragility of being and life, memory and permanence.
