Tucked away in a peaceful Santos courtyard, a place to discover sentimental and collectible textiles and home goods

For those truffle-hunting people who want to source meaningful things for a home made of memories, imagination and experiences.

The space is the vision of designer Chloe Skinner who works from the studio, designing story-filled printed textiles. Most of the textiles she makes are screen printed in Lisbon by hand on carefully sourced linens, cottons and silks.

Bryon Studios is a light-filled space full of possibility.  Chloe’s dream was for an inspiring place for projects and collaborations that could be part of the neighborhood. Hosting exhibitions, workshops and events to nurture imagination in adults and children alike.

During Lisbon Design Week they will be showing a textile sculpture by Susana Mendez.

Susana Mendez studio

Through manual weaving, Susana Mendez found her way of expression. Inspired by the unpredictability of nature, its shapes and colors, she creates decorative and utilitarian pieces. Her works generally feature different textures and volumes, which awaken emotions and provoke the senses. Born into a family of artisans, Susana studied art and graduated in graphic design, an area in which she worked for several years. At the same time, she was always involved in craft and design projects. She also studied interior design, an area that has always fascinated her. Later she decided to deepen her knowledge in the textile area and trained in manual weaving, tapestry and natural dyeing. After finishing her textile training, Susana decided to change her professional focus and dedicate herself entirely to manual weaving. As interior design is an area of interest for her, she began developing unique pieces to integrate spaces. This is how she founded Susana Mendez-Studio in 2021.

Susana currently lives in the Algarve, the region where she was born and where she gathers all the inspiration she needs to develop her pieces. She works only with natural fibers, some of them dyed with local plants in a natural and conscious way. Her raw material of choice is wool, a fiber that she uses both raw and hand-spun, which gives each piece a unique identity. Vegetable fibers are also a constant in her work, namely palm leaves as they refer to a craft that is very present in the family.
